Back Light Unit (BLU), in NCR replacement/refurbishment monitor

I'd like to talk about back light unit in NCR replacement/refurbishment monitor today.

Until recently, all back light unit, whether it was used in NCR monitor, computer monitor or TV, was CCFL type.

Now, the new trend is demanding LED type and I'm sure you've all seen the commercial or read a magazine where latest LED screen is introduced.

Yes, they are mostly TV screens but the demand for LED type in NCR replacement/refurbishment industry has been slowly increasing as well.

So what are some advantages LED has over CCFL? Let's take a look.

1. LED type is mercury free, which means it is more environment friendly.
2. Excellent performance under low temperature resulting in "High-Brightness", "Quick kick-off
Brightness", and "Brightness uniformity".
3. LED type doesn't need a high voltage component, meaning it doesn't need an inverter.
4. Unlike CCFL type, LED lighting component is semi-permanent.
5. LED type has lower power consumption.
6. LED type is powered on immediately whereas CCFL type needs up to 30 mins.
7. LED type is much more slim.
8. Color reproduction range is much wider. 100-110% for LED type, 78-80% for CCFL type.
9. Produces much less heat.

And if you have been buying from AUO or LG, you would have noticed they're introducing more and more LED type panels as well.
